Intradiscal PRP therapy

Intradiscal PRP therapy involves an injection of special plasma, made out of the patient’s own blood, into painful spinal discs. First, blood is taken from the patient and separated into its components. Then the platelet-rich part of the blood is injected into the painful area.

Platelets are blood components containing growth factors that play a major role in the body’s ability to heal itself. PRP therapy releases growth factors that promote the body’s natural healing response and mobilize stem cells to injured and damaged tissue to repair and rebuild it.

PRP injections have been shown to relieve acute and chronic pain, including lower back pain. It accelerates healing of injured tissues and joints which helps increase strength and mobility.

Intradiscal prolotherapy involves repeated injections of a safe, but slightly irritating solution into the affected area. This stimulates the body’s natural response to repair itself and triggers the production of new, healthy connective tissue, strengthening the injured or damaged area. It encourages growth of healthy cells and an eventual reduction in pain.

Intradiscal prolotherapy treatment is commonly used to relieve pain from degenerative disc disease.
Multiple treatments at regular intervals encourage additional tissue growth to restore and strengthen the affected area.

In some cases, both PRP and prolotherapy treatments are used together to maximize benefits.
